Asking for a Scholarship Paid Off

Just over a month ago I asked the assistant dean of my law school to consider me for their merit based scholarships. They decided not only to consider me but also awarded me a 75% one year scholarship. This will help tons my first year, because I was worried I may not be able to afford everything. Try to write to your school and ask for a scholarship, the worst they can do is tell you no.

I received scholarships at 2 out the 3 schools I was accepted at, however the school I want to attend is the one that didn't offer me a scholarship. I called my school of choice and found out that I wasn't being considered for the merit-based scholarships. I wrote a letter to the assistant dean requesting to be considered for these scholarships, and she replied later that day saying I now qualified for these scholarships and provided me an application. I am still waiting to here if I won any, but at least they are considering me.

I thought I would start this blog as a way to share ideas on ways to save money during law school. I hope to be able to post a number of opportunities to not only save money but earn money. Starting this fall I will be a 1L at a tier 2 school.
